First purchase, found a deal

Got a Starter License for a new project. I was looking for a decent price, and I found a discount for the first year. The checkout was easy, and the overall cost was certainly competitive compared to Blesta. It felt worth the purchase for getting started.

Reliable as always

I've used WHMCS for years for my hosting business. Just renewed my Professional License again, no surprises. The automated billing and client management just works, consistently. Another smooth transaction.

Solid platform, quick delivery

I purchased the WHMCS Self-Hosted License last week. The entire process, from selecting the license to receiving the download links, was incredibly fast. I appreciate how quickly I could get started. The documentation for server provisioning was clear and helped a lot with the initial setup. I was particularly impressed with the Mobile App's functionality; it's quite handy for managing things on the go. My previous experience with a competitor was a lot more clunky, so this was a refreshing change.

Good value, minor snag

I picked up the Business License during a promo, felt like a decent deal. The ordering process was straightforward enough, and the license key landed in my inbox within a minute. Setting up the cPanel Integration was mostly painless. My only slight issue was with a specific Registrar Module I needed; it took a bit of digging in their docs to get it configured right, and their support response was a bit slower than I'd hoped for that particular query. But overall, the platform itself is robust and handles client area and billing well. The value for what I paid felt fair.

Just renewed my WHMCS license and the price jumped quite a bit. Anyone else seeing this with their renewals lately?

T techfreak 2 months ago ✓ Best Answer
I think they ended some of the older promo pricing. If you were on a legacy plan or got a special discount initially, those usually don't carry over forever. Had that happen with an addon once.

R Rahul 2 months ago
Good point. Mine was always standard pricing so no big jump.

Ah, that makes sense. I did get it during a sale.

I'd check your invoice breakdown. Sometimes it's a MarketConnect service renewal that also went up, not just the core WHMCS license.

Could be.

Hmm, didn't think of that. Will check.

Yeah, mine too! I had the Business license and the renewal was like 15% higher than last year. Thought it was just me.

Thinking of moving from self-hosted WHMCS to their Cloud version. Anyone made the switch and have thoughts on the experience? Mostly worried about data migration and performance.

D deepu 2 weeks ago ✓ Best Answer
I did it about 6 months ago. Migration was smoother than I expected, they have tools for it. Performance is definitely better, especially during peak billing cycles. Less server headaches for me.

N NikhilS 2 weeks ago
That's good to hear. Any downtime during the switch?

Following. I'm also considering this. My self-hosted setup is getting a bit long in the tooth.
7
R Rahul87 2 weeks ago
Same here. The maintenance is becoming a pain.
3
T techfreak 2 weeks ago
Not sure about Cloud version directly, but I know their cPanel integration on self-hosted works really well for server provisioning. Does the Cloud version handle integrations like that just as smoothly?
4
D deepu 2 weeks ago
Yes, all integrations work the same, it's just hosted on their side.

Thinking of moving from self-hosted WHMCS to their Cloud version. Anyone made that jump? Curious about actual pros and cons, not just what their site says.

M maxwell 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
I switched about 6 months ago. Main pro for me is not having to deal with server maintenance or updates. It's just... done. Cons? Less control over the underlying environment, obviously. Also, addons sometimes need cloud-specific versions.

D Deepak91 1 month ago
That server maintenance bit is tempting. My current setup is a headache.

C coolboy88 1 month ago
Less control is a big one for me.

Are the cloud-specific addons expensive?

A AmitM 1 month ago
I stayed self-hosted. For the price difference, I can get a decent managed VPS and still have full root access. Plus, some customizations are just easier when you own the server.
1
D Deepak91 1 month ago
Good point on the cost vs VPS.
2
S Sneha22 1 month ago
Yeah, flexibility is key for me.
3
R rockstar007 1 month ago
Depends on your hosting environment. If you have a solid, optimized server for self-hosted, you might not see a performance boost. If your current server is struggling, Cloud might feel faster. Also, keep in mind data migration can be a pain.
5
D Deepak91 1 month ago
My server is okay, not amazing. Migration scares me a bit.

Renewal price for my Professional License was way higher than I expected this year. Did anyone else get hit with a big increase?

P PoojaR 1 month ago
Yeah, mine went up too. I had a promotional rate from a few years back and I guess that finally expired. Was pretty bummed when I saw the invoice.

Did they give you any heads up about the promo ending?
8
S Sneha22 1 month ago
Mine stayed pretty consistent, but I don't think I was ever on a special promo. Just the standard annual billing discount I think.

Mine renewed last month and it was the same as before. Maybe it's a regional thing?

I heard sometimes they roll out new features that are 'included' in higher tiers which might justify a price change. But usually, they announce it. Did you check their blog?
6
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
Good point. I'll check the blog. Thanks!
7
S Sneha22 2 weeks ago
Mine was pretty consistent, but I'm on the Plus license. Maybe it's specific to the Professional or Business tiers? Or maybe you had an annual billing discount that ended?
1
R RahulK 2 weeks ago
Could be. I usually pay annually. Never had this big a jump before.
2
C coolboy88 2 weeks ago
I'm on Plus too and it was fine.

Thinking of switching to WHMCS, but I currently use Blesta. Anyone made that jump? How was it?

G Gwen Vargas 3 months ago
Yeah I moved from ClientExec to WHMCS a few years back. The learning curve wasn't too bad, especially for billing automation it's just way more robust.
6
A Amber 2 months ago
Honestly, Blesta is pretty good now too. It kinda depends on what specific features you use most. WHMCS is probably more mature with integrations though.

Are there ever any promo codes or discounts for renewing your WHMCS license? Or just for new ones?

R Rosa 3 months ago
Sometimes they do renewal promos, but it's not super common compared to new license discounts. Black Friday is usually the best bet for any kind of deal.
4
T Todd V. 3 months ago
I've seen some renewal codes pop up around Black Friday or Cyber Monday, but usually, it's just for the first billing cycle of new licenses from what I remember.

I'm looking at the Self-Hosted vs Cloud versions, what's the main difference? Is one better for a smaller operation?

B Beth Kaur 3 months ago
Self-hosted means you install it on your own server, you're responsible for updates and maintenance. Cloud is basically they host it for you, less hassle.
2
I Ivy 3 months ago
For a smaller shop, Cloud might be easier to start with. No server setup or anything. But Self-Hosted gives you more control if you like to tinker.
